GETTING INFORMATION ON YOUR MAGNAVOX

First thing to do is check at Magnavox Friends and also go to Phonoland Forums. These two sites have some knowledgeable people and they are helpful. Give them a break too, replies may not be instant, what you want to hear, or could be a no reply because no one knows. That doesn't mean someone hasn't checked your request.

Trying to identify your Magnavox will take an effort on your part. Generally, Magnavox model numbers and serial numbers don't help much. You must get all the numbers you can off the chassis and even the cabinet to have the best shot at getting more information. This requires you remove the back most of the time. People selling on Ebay or other avenues would probably do better by including as much data as possible.

Now what are these Magnavox Consoles worth? I'm not an expert on these sets by any means. But I have enough experience to tell you it's not a big market for them and prices are low. On most any site dealing with radios, stereos, record changers where someone ask for "value" you will see about the same response. Worth very little. Sure I see people trying to sell some for really outrageous prices. I just don't know if they sold them. I will say this about value to me. I will not pay more than $20.00 for any solid state unit and that's for units about 1968 and before. I will pay $25.00-$35 for tube type sets. The reason I have a range on tube sets is to account for the multiplexer if set has one. Obviously if a set has been upgraded with proper parts it is worth $60-70 more just because of parts replacement. But I don't need to buy a fixed up set. I don't know how much sets may be worth in your area. If you are selling put them on Ebay or Craig's List, ask what you want, test the market.
